A Season in Waterdeep

GM

Jeremy McDonald (he/him)

Did you know it is a scientifically proven fact that you cannot have a meeting with Jeremy without an inquiry into your passions for TTRPGs. He would tell you that TTRPGs are the 6th level on the Hierarchy of Needs. As a player for 14 years and a GM for 13 TTRPGs, he is well versed in a variety of systems and would love to offer his experience to the Opal Grove community.

He has run both private and professional games, from home to conventions, with players ranging from 7 to 70. He is committed to ensuring every player has the best time at his table he can. Games will be balanced with players in mind after a session 0 discussion. Whether a combat heavy gauntlet, a cloud of mysteries, or impassioned roleplay, he is willing and ready to tailor the game to fit the kind of game you are interested in playing.

Gameplay

This will be a modified version of Waterdeep Dragon Heist. It will be set in Waterdeep but enough will be changed so even people that have played the module before won’t know everything that will happen. The characters are people that call Waterdeep home. When the chance is given to leave a mark on the city, what shape will that mark take?

Summary

The small, secluded, sleepy town of Myskitonik, Michigan is prime grounds for the weird. Tucked away in the Manistee National Forest, Myskitonik’s antiquated secrets are kept secure by even more ancient trees. There is a spotty connection to the outside world - this town is surrounded by farmland, but kept within is a bustling main street and a state-wide acclaimed community college.

Players will be tasked with solving the mystery that no one in town wants to talk about: what the hell is going on here? There are reports of high strangeness at a rapidly increasing rate: Time skips, weird sightings, and now finally the disappearance of a local celebrity. Can the players figure out the who, what, where, when and why before it reaches a tipping point? Can they achieve this before it happens to them?

Character Creation

We will be creating characters as a table. For those who like to plan ahead, all official WOTC release classes and subclasses are allowed. Most races outside of those introduced in Spelljammer are allowed. Background will be restricted to those that fit the setting and can be discussed during character creation.

Safety Tools

During session 0, I will introduce the concept of lines and veils and set aside time to establish those as a table. X cards will also be present for in-session boundary setting.
